Hey there, lovers and makers! The SU crew is busy basking in the afterglow of the successful run of JUNE and preparing for NIGHT OF NEW WORKS (coming up next month)... so clearly we're not good at sitting still! How could we be when there are so many incredible things happening around us? HERE NOW
​Kaleena Miller Dance

If you know Savage Umbrella, you know we love to move. So does Kaleena Miller! HERE NOW is an evening of new works by Kaleena Miller Dance and collaborators. Recently named a 2015 McKnight Dance Fellow and one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch", Kaleena Miller leads her group of dancers and musicians through two premieres: "HERE NOW", a group work set to music by Hand Sand Hands, and "Untitled", improvised solos by Kaleena Miller Dance company members set to live music. Sign us up!

THE SEAGULL
​Theatre Novi Most

I mean, just LOOK at that photo. We're glad to have such saucy and smart ARTshare friends. You won't want to miss this twist on the Russian classic which disengages the play from the clichés of samovars, corsets, and the “mysterious Russian soul” and instead addresses our contemporary world of disconnection and the desperate longing for love that is our seething, vibrating underbelly. *shivers* Yes, please. Plus... they've been getting rave reviews.

“I don’t normally do this…” is an evening of dances created by people who make things other than dances. This. Is. The. Coolest. Idea. We're so into it and we can't wait to see what happens. The show will feature dances created by Lighting Designer, Heidi Eckwall; Visual Artist, Maxwell Hoaglund; Visual Artist, Emmett Ramstad; Visual Artist Andrea Steudel; Theater Artist, Katie Ka Vang; Photographer, Kayva Yang; Theater Artist, Emily Zimmer; and others.

BRECHT & WEILL SMORGASBORD
​featuring some of our favorites!

Part of a semester long Festival "Weill and Brecht - A Twenty First Century Celebration" the "Brecht / Weill Smorgasbord" will feature five local companies performing excerpts from little known works by the two men. This little baby features some of our favorite Twin Cities Allstars: Four Humors, Skylark Opera, Nautilus Music-Theater, Theatre Novi Most, and Live Action Set.

When you read this description, I think you'll know how excited we are about this show... "In ODORI-BA, Nenkin Butoh Dan (Masanari Kawahara, Dustin Maxwell and Gadu) creates three simultaneous performances in three different locations inside the Southern Theater. Each performance is never repeated twice in the same space." SO EXCITED. I might have to go see it all three nights...
