This week we’re feeling so, so lucky to be part of the ARTshare family. Due to some unexpected circumstances, there suddenly came up some free performance evenings during ARTshare’s first slot, and whammo, Savage Umbrella gets two more evenings for performances in late Jan/early Feb. BAM. So we’ve had a little project on the back burner for a while now, a little nugget called FREAKS. Did Tanner and I write it in 2010? Yes. Did we write it for high school students? Yes. Did they want it to be about zombies? Hell yes. Are we going to perform it, script as it lay in 2010 for high school students? You know it. ![]() So, you know. Same, same. So, uh, that’s sweet and all, but what? Well, we’ve been bouncing the general idea around - the idea of a zombie comedy, or at least the zombie genre of some kind - for a while now. And we intended to work on an internal workshop this year. Until, hello, ARTshare drops this opportunity on our laps. WIN. So, yes, we will workshop FREAKS, for you, at The Southern on Wednesday Jan. 28 and Friday Feb. 6. What can you expect? Zaniness. Zombies. High school tropes. And a new kind of hybrid performance-workshop-immersive experience that only Savage Umbrella will bring you. Yes, you’ll get to revel in the earnestness dorkiness of our high school characters, but also, also. Also you get to see what we’ve got from 2010 and then help us continue to craft the show for a full production in future. We. Can’t. Wait. So, please keep your peepers open and see here to buy tickets very soon (mid-December?) or you know...JOIN THE COOLEST CLUB IN TOWN! Comments are closed.
