While our SPACE Warming Party back in April got the ball rolling on making SPACE feel like home, hearing from the makers who have since utilized SPACE has us grinning ear to ear. Oh, the possibilities!

"I'm working on a new solo show called "In Algeria They Know My Name" that will be presented this summer as part of New Arab American Theatre Works at Mixed Blood. The show is directed and dramaturged by Zaraawar Mistry. I've been using the SPACE to rehearse on my own in between rehearsing with the director. It's been so great having an affordable place to go away from distraction to review blocking and text."

"Minnesota Snow Job is an improv duo and we've been using Savage Umbrella's SPACE to work on our show format. Having a dedicated rehearsal space has allowed us to simultaneously practice our established format while also experimenting with new approaches. We've been extremely happy with SPACE and don't miss an opportunity to recommend it to our fellow performers. "We are a long form improv group.  We are using the space to rehearse our “form”.  Our form is an exploration of a given location using different characters, across times, even into fantasy. This is a great space. It’s large and flexible for a variety of configurations."

Making bird puppets looks WAY TOO FUN!

"Our cast for the play After the Birds Taught Me to Fly gathered at SPACE to make bird costumes. We had five different work stations making wings, making "river water", cutting chicken wire, shaping heads, and mod-podging tissue paper designs for different birds. Everybody brought food and drinks, and we made a great Sunday of it. 

We needed work tables and chairs in a big, open space for not a lot of money. SPACE provided. We were also eager to use a workspace that belongs to our friends at Savage Umbrella. We like to share. The building itself is...awesome. One of our artists stopped in at five other studios to see what was going on before she made it up to SPACE."

Our SPACE is your space, too! 

We are always on the hunt for new ways to improve SPACE, and there are a few items currently at the top of our wish list:

• Tall ladders (8 to 10 ft) to reach those nooks and crannies (to finish installing some of our DIY acoustic paneling and set up lighting/the disco ball, etc.)
  
  
• Chairs for our audience to sit in! Folding chairs, stacking chairs, lightweight chairs, really any chairs! (literally, we need these by the PENELOPE Workshop or there won’t be anywhere to sit!)
  
  
• Tables of various sizes for box office, costume building parties, events, etc.
