PENELOPE opens at the Minnesota Fringe tonight!

While the king is away we put on a play! Odysseus has been missing for over 10 years, but that doesn't mean we can't PAR-TAY. Join Penelope and watch as her motley crew of suitors try to scheme, perform, and race their way into her heart: 

​Penelope is the best hostess. Ever since her husband left (she's still not technically for sure single, though) she's been throwing parties left and right for all her suitors and maidens. She loves cantaloupe, champagne, her son, and putting off decision-making.

​Telemachus is a Serious Artiste. He makes time-based art, he's got a hard crush on his mom's BFF, and he definitely has absolutely zero daddy-issues.

Oinone is Penelope’s loyal personal assistant. She takes her notes, sends hourly breakdowns of her agenda, manages her wardrobe and sneaks peeks at her bod. NO ONE get’s on P’s agenda without going through Oinone. NO ONE.

Let’s just take a moment and listen in on Penelope talking about her best friend, Gayle.








PENELOPE: Gayle? Don't get me crying. I can't even express what Gayle has been to me. 
GAYLE: Listen, Penelope and I have been friends for a very long, a very long time. And I've known that what we have is very special. I'll answer for her. 
PENELOPE: (throws her head back and laughs, just like when she’s eating salad)
GAYLE: She knows that she can trust me. She knows that I will tell her the truth, and she knows that I will do anything for her.
PENELOPE: Yeah.
GAYLE: To know that you have someone who you can count on always.
PENELOPE: You’re really good at making monkey bread.
GAYLE: You like it?
PENELOPE: It’s really good. The cinnamon. 
GAYLE: Oh, honey, that’s just Goldschlager. 
PENELOPE: Yeah. It's been an amazing adventure.
GAYLE: Who knows how it will turn out?

Peisander’s still carrying that torch for Penelope. Seriously. Like, since high school. Now that he’s a widower (RIP, Ms. Peisander) he’s ready to woo her all over again, just like in that high school production of Romeo and Juliet. In which he played the Nurse...sigh…

Melantho is a Lawyer Chef. A lawyer and a chef. Penelope went to a private tasting event at Melantho’s last restaurant in Spain -- they got to talking public policy and found a mutual passion for both food and the Law.

Leiodes is good at sports. He got a medal in the Olympics - well, the pre-Olympics, and it was bronze. He met Penelope under the frozen daiquiri table at his congratulations party, and they totally made out.

Agape brings a lot to the party - particularly a locally micro brewed non-dairy kefir-kombucha-milk stout with single origin unbleached organic hops. She’s a Zen-guru with anger issues and a yoga-bod, who has the strange ability to bring people back to human form when they've been possessed by the gods.

​Elatus is a suitor with business on the mind. He’s an executive business-man enjoying business lunches and business times. Serious Business. Risky business. Seriously risky business.
