We are beyond excited to welcome you into the world of HOUSE PARTY this coming Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22! We’ve been hard at work over the past five weeks, figuring out who these characters are and how they got here, brought together by a single party, whether they like it or not. Tanner [picked his own brain] on the subject recently, in case you missed it. ![]() The rehearsal process for the HOUSE PARTY Workshop has been wonderfully messy. Eleven performers each individually began to shape their characters with Tanner, through discussions, interviews, emails, worksheets, and Google Forms. Once we started to get a feeling for who these characters are, we brought them together to see how they’d interact; how they know each other, and how they don’t know each other. While everyone in the rehearsal room would usually be in the know on all of these character relationships and how they intersect, the HOUSE PARTY process is full of secrets. Each performer only knows as much about the other characters as their own character does. I think the power of not knowing everything has led to some interesting discoveries and challenges all of us in the room to really listen to one another’s characters, and to wonder about them, and to wander away from them and over to the food table, and to maybe drift back into their story when we want more.
