Welcome back, Theatre Readers! INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY's workshop presentation is tantalizingly close! Like, the-first-performance-is-tomorrow close. We want you to be as sufficiently excited as we are so creator, writer, and company member, Lisa Brimmer, is here to give a slightly deeper drink from the well. And she brought pictures! -Russ  Gideon Murdock: leader, traitor, transfer subject. Once, a respected orator with devoted followers, high in power, he’s unexpectedly transferred. Garbled up by the metaphysical mayhem that is Soul Transfer. As a broad community of kinfolk on this planet, we are exhausting replenishable resources faster than they. . . plenish. The impacts on the lower resourced many is becoming ever so visible. Even revolution can’t fix the United States' dependence on stratification and disproportionate distribution of wealth. Water crises abound. The tea pot whistles it’s steady call. As Gideon returns, transferred anew, he sojourns back to power. I’m reminded of the power of deception, our innate drive for survival, and the power of the mind to trick itself. In our version of the year 2066, Media plays against information. The legion has overtaken the government (in a constitutional democracy where mob rules and people DO have the power), individuals are distrustful of one another. Sound Familiar? Listen: As Alana noted, there are definite parallels between 2016 and 2066. Some of them fixable. Some of them not. Some of these parallels are, potentially, as tortuously human as any civilization can be expected to behave in any time. Perhaps we not only reincarnate our selves, but also our fears. The shadows on the wall are of our own devising. We fear totalitarian rule in practice and vision, but run into its arms in theory, eyes wide shut.
