Hey there, Theatre-Creatures! We’ve spent the last two weeks kicking off rehearsals for our upcoming Fringe show--PENELOPE—in a mini-workshop with our cast, company, and other guests! Since its workshop in summer 2015, PENELOPE has changed juuust a bit in form, transforming from an indoor variety show to an outdoor BBQ party, so we thought it was apt to start setting the scene outside.

We are just bursting from all the new work joy that was thrown around during NIGHT OF NEW WORKS this month. The daring, exciting, experimental work of Harrison, Katie, and unconscious collective performance was witnessed by 184 of you lovers. That's HUGE! xoxoxoxo

Now we're getting excited about the upcoming workshop of INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY and PENELOPE at the MN Fringe Festival! Keep an eye out for more info soon.

Last week we introduced the first of three Night of New Works creator/collaborators collective unconscious and their new work: the sleeping beauty in the wood. This week we're going to keep the ball rolling by giving you a little more info about local performer and creater Katie Kaufmann and her new work: Keeper of the Light.​

Savage Umbrella central (aka SPACE) has been buzzing with so much activity lately. Movers and shakers and candle stick makers have been utilizing our humble home to take their new works to the next level. 

That's right! We're well under way preparing for our NIGHT OF NEW WORKS *cue fire works and cheering*

These next few weeks we'll be profiling the amazing creators and organizations that will be presenting their new works to you. So without further ado, here's our first NNW Profile:

Hey there, lovers and makers! The SU crew is busy basking in the afterglow of the successful run of JUNE and preparing for NIGHT OF NEW WORKS (coming up next month)... so clearly we're not good at sitting still! How could we be when there are so many incredible things happening around us? We want to tell you about all the things we are excited to see in March and April. Brace yourselves for a whole lot of awesome!

If you know Savage Umbrella, you know we love to move. So does Kaleena Miller! HERE NOW is an evening of new works by Kaleena Miller Dance and collaborators. Recently named a 2015 McKnight Dance Fellow and one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch", Kaleena Miller leads her group of dancers and musicians through two premieres: "HERE NOW", a group work set to music by Hand Sand Hands, and "Untitled", improvised solos by Kaleena Miller Dance company members set to live music.
